Thank you to all the movie stars of Hollywood and also the British movie stars especially of the films made during World War Two.
When I was young I had bronchitis from age 8 to age 12 for about 4 weeks every year and was sick with throat infections as well, and spent a lot of time at home because of my illnesses.
Every day Monday through Friday afternoon I would watch one or two old movies on television.
I lived in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and we had a movie on a Buffalo TV station, and another on a Hamilton station.
I learned so much about the English classical literary works (especially Charles Dickens), as well as military and political history, through watching their film adaptations such as The Scarlet Pimpernel starring Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon which is an historic portrayal of the horror of the Reign of Terror during the French Revolutionary period, that I was motivated to want to teach History, and had my knowledge of English Literature and History greatly increased.
The ethical lessons and lessons about life and hope and faith and how to pull yourself up and go on that I learned from the actors and actresses, and the screenwriters kept me hopeful, inspired and helped me to understand and want to help others, especially those less fortunate than myself.
Thank you Hollywood and British movie stars: you helped make me what I am and inspired my imagination and creativity as well.
God Bless all of you that are still with us, and I know that those who have left this world are with God.
